So after my post last night, lets start again on the road of blogging!

I am obviously not gifted in writing/English! I am dyslexic and find this all very much hard work! But after re reading all my postsĀ  I really enjoyed the catch up so I think it best I keep at it if at all possible.

So I mentioned the good news well if you haven’t seen my flickr post check it out!

Yes this my wife Emma holding a positive test! Pregnant(after about 2 years trying) this was taken back in November (for the technical aspect of this blog this was taken on a new camera to this blog a 60’s Empire Junior, a bit like a Diana I suppose but made of metal. Kodak tri-x pushed to about 2 or three stops to get something of the negative. developed in Rodinal)

So yes we are very happy Emma is about 14 weeks now and suffering just about every symptom expecting mothers are subject to. We are due in June the 29th to be exact!!

Here is our 12 week scan picture

So that is my first post of hopefully a more steady stream of blogging.

So on my favorite guitar site(yes I am a guitar nerd too) Shortscale.orgĀ  member riotshield asked me what I did with my scanned film images after I scanned them. So I thought I would do a video showing my exact process. This video isn’t very good it was a bit distracting talking about what I was doing but it should give a general idea of the process I go through for my images.

The images I scan as high quality tiffs in epson scan with no adjustments, so the images I put in lightroom are unaltered from the negatives. So I do all my editing in lightroom.

Here is the video (with sneak peaks at the next set of images I have to choose from to upload)

I am no lightroom wiz kid, but I just want to have as little to do with my images on the computer( A big reason for not shooting digital)

These pictures are from the other day when I shot those two rolls of expired tri-x, these are from the first roll. The only difference was I developed these for 19 minutes instead of 18.30 seconds. And the lighting was slightly different. In these shots I had two lights pointing into a silver reflexive umbrella on one side. I was after a old fashioned look, not sure how well I achieved that but none the less here they are.

These are named after Elliot smith songs.

Couple more from the roll of tri-x

These were uploaded with the names of two Beat Happening songs in my head.

These were taken at the end of the second roll and I think the thin patience of Emma is starting to show really clearly. I had moved the light on her really close, and anyone who has had a light shone in their eyes in the dark will know that isn’t the greatest feeling. We suffer for our art…well Emma did…

I couldn’t resist posting this other one from the same roll of tri-x.

Look at Harvey’s little face , I know he is in the dark but he wasn’t supposed to be there. He just kept running into the shot, he want’s to be on film!
